$1 Million Dollars Raised

Norfolk, NE – The Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center Building Campaign announced today that it has now raised over $1 million dollars toward the completion of an exciting new economic development partnership facility in our community. The campaign to build this facility that will serve as a resource center for visitors and a one-stop shop for new and existing businesses, kicked off its efforts in February. The campaign has received strong support from community members and business leaders, as evidenced by the 100 plus volunteers who have dedicated their time to this project.

According to Jared Faltys, Chairman of the Board of the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce, “Support for this project has been strong from the beginning. We have been talking about the need to build a facility that would provide our community with a strong, positive first impression for visitors and business prospects for the past 30 years. Now we are moving forward to make that vision a reality.”

The new Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, located at the southeast corner of 7th Street and Norfolk Avenue, will have many partners housed in this welcoming downtown facility. Partners will include the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce, the Madison County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the Elkhorn Valley Economic Development Council, Norfolk Area Recruiters, SCORE, Builder’s Exchange, Vehicle Parking District, and the Norfolk Area Community Foundation.

Dennis Houston, President and CEO of the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce said, “This facility represents an important step in the future growth and development of our community. All these entities coming together in one place to serve the needs of business and community members illustrates the strong partnerships that we have in our community and our dedication to working together to get things done. What a great opportunity for us to showcase what is available here for people to grow their businesses, raise their children and create lasting relationships with our community.”

Ground breaking will begin on the new facility will begin late this summer, with completion slated for June 2011.
