Press Release
A delegation from the Norfolk Area Recruiters spoke recently at Gov. Dave Heineman’s workforce issues forum.
The forum was held in the governor’s mansion and brought together leaders of business, higher education and alumni and career placement organizations.
“We have an unusual situation in Nebraska that we have more jobs than we have employees,” Heineman said. “It is a problem employers across our state and the nation are addressing to continue to grow their business.”
Jay Knobbe, president, of the Norfolk Area Recruiters, was the first of three speakers to address the forum. He told the story of the Norfolk Area Recruiters and how the communities of Norfolk, Madison, Stanton and Battle Creek have worked to recruit 13 families back to Northeast Nebraska since the group formed two years ago.
Other speakers were representatives from The Gallup Organization in Omaha and Nanonation in Lincoln. The forum concluded with a group discussion about retaining Nebraska’s youth, recruiting former residents and creating a more centralized statewide job posting database.
